"Comprehensive Tour Packages For London Marathon and Ride London. Travel : Hotel : Support"

As part of your WRP Tours London Marathon package, we offer in each hotel a complimentary race clinic on Saturday evening. The clinics start at 5.15 and will last approximately 45 minutes, and are primarily designed for either first time marathoner, or first time 'London' runners.

A typical clinic will begin with a short presentation of the very latest information about the race, expected weather, etc. and then we go though essential safety and survival techniques. This really is the important bit! The third section is a question and answer session allowing you to resolve any last minute problems or worries. The clinics often conclude with informal displays of how to correctly fit the timing chip onto your shoe.

Each clinic will be taken by an experienced marathon runner – they have been there and done it. Even when the so-called “elite” line up at the start, despite how well their training has gone, they have no idea how they will perform. The same will be true for you so it’s important to know different strategies to deal with different situations as they emerge during the race.

The clinics are always very informal and we try to answer all questions. Those taking the clinics are resident in your hotel so are available should there be something that you would rather raise in private.

At each of our hotels we will be hosting a two course evening buffet for our group on Saturday evening. The price has yet to be confirmed but is expected to be about £22. Please contact the WRP Tours office for the menu.

The aims of the optional Saturday night buffet is simple: to ensure that the runners have a meal that best prepares them for the marathon - and their supporters enjoy a nice meal as well.

Please book  via the 'Final Orders and Requests' form issued with your 'Final Details' pack.

It should be noted that, should you prefer, you can also use the restaurant like any other guest that night, but you would be advised to book a table when you first arrive at the hotel as the pre-booked WRP Tours party does dominate restaurant seating that night.

Alarms - you can't have enough!

It’s a truism that most runners sleep badly on Saturday night, then finally manage to fall into a deep sleep just as they should be getting up!! The hotels use an automated alarm call system linked to the telephone in your room which is very easy to operate.
The wiser runners will also set the alarm on their mobile and/or bring their own alarm clock. This is the one morning when you can’t have too many!

Check-lists in operation?

Hopefully the check-lists that WRP offer both runners and spectators in 'Final Details' proved to be useful in making sure that everything is laid out ready so avoiding frantic last minute searches in the morning.

The runner should have their kit was ready just to step into - with the race number already pinned onto the running vest and timing chip firmly secured on one of their running shoes. It's advisable that the top pins are at least 1” below each nipple.

We find that 99% of runners come down to breakfast all ready to run thus ensuring that they are not going to be the runner from their hotel that discovers, as the coach pulls out, that they have forgotten their race number.  Yes, it does happen!  Every year at least one runner will do it from one of the hotels.
